La Joya, TX - Recognizing that meaningful progress begins with those closest to the classroom, Superintendent Dr. Marcey Sorensen brought together educators from across the District for the first Superintendent's Educator Advisory Committee meeting of the 2026–2027 school year.

A direct support for the district’s Achieving Excellence Together: 2030 Strategic Plan, the Superintendent’s Educator Advisory Committee engages teachers from different campuses, grade levels and educational settings in order to better understand common challenges, identify opportunities for growth and recognize effective practices that may benefit schools across La Joya ISD.

The advisory committee, composed of teachers representing campuses throughout La Joya ISD,  provides a dedicated space for open dialogue, allowing educators to share perspectives on district initiatives, instructional practices, campus needs and opportunities for improvement. Through these conversations, Dr. Sorensen gains firsthand insight into the experiences of teachers, helping ensure that decisions and priorities are informed by the individuals directly involved in educating students.

Equally important, committee members help communicate districtwide information and priorities back to their campuses, creating a two-way exchange that promotes transparency, shared understanding and collaboration.

The committee's work reflects La Joya ISD's commitment to building a culture in which educators are not only informed about district decisions but also have meaningful opportunities to contribute to the conversations that shape them.

Through continued conversations and shared leadership, Dr. Sorensen and the committee will work to strengthen connections between classrooms and district administration, ensuring educator perspectives remain an important part of La Joya ISD's path forward.
